Amber & Flint

The Studio

Thoughtful interiors with character, warmth and a strong sense of place.

Amber & Flint is an independent interior design studio based in Berkshire, creating considered spaces shaped by the people, architecture and surroundings they belong to.

Our work is grounded in a love of materials, craftsmanship and the details that give a space its identity. We bring together old and new, familiar and unexpected, to create interiors that feel personal, comfortable and enduring.

Our Story

It began on my grandma's bed, surrounded by fabric swatches.

Some of my earliest memories of interiors are sitting with my grandma, helping her choose fabrics for rooms she was renovating and chairs she was re-covering. I loved the process of seeing how a fabric, colour or pattern could completely change the feeling of a space. That curiosity has stayed with me ever since.

I’m dyslexic, and I’ve always experienced spaces in a particularly visual and tactile way. I notice colour, texture, proportion and materials, and how they come together to create a feeling. It’s an instinct that has shaped the way I design and has become an important part of my approach.

What We Believe

Four principles that shape every project

I.

A sense of place

Every interior should belong where it is. We look to the architecture, history and surroundings of each space, allowing them to inform the design rather than dictate it.

II.

Materials with meaning

We believe materials should be chosen for more than how they look. Texture, tactility, craftsmanship, longevity and where something comes from all have a part to play.

III.

Designed to last

Good design shouldn’t be disposable. We favour thoughtful choices, quality materials and pieces that can be lived with, loved and adapted over time.

IV.

Personal by nature

There is no one way to create a beautiful home. Every project is shaped around the people who live in it, their tastes, routines and personalities, with the process adapted to how involved they want to be.
